ISPMA certification is based on the Software Product Management (SPM) curriculum that is developed with industry and academia. The “ISPMA Certified Software Product Manager” certificate designates a person that has competences in the management of software products, the software parts of software-intensive products, software as a service (SaaS), and software solutions that are maintained beyond a single development project.
The SPM curriculum describes the competencies of a person needed to qualify with a given level of software product management expertise. It can be used by professional training providers to develop and administer training in software product management and by certification organizations to administer certification exams. The certificates are supplied through the ISPMA.
The SPM curriculum consists of syllabi that are organized in foundation, advanced, and expert levels. Currently available are the following syllabi:
- Foundation Level: Software Product Management (full syllabus of V1.0)
- Advanced Level: Product Planning (table of contents of current DRAFT), other advanced level syllabi follow.
Suggestions for adjustment of the syllabi are handled as part of the syllabus change process if submitted through info@ispma.org.
ISPMA strictly separates the definition of competencies, training, and certification/registration/assessment in accordance to international standards. The ISPMA recognizes training providers and certification networks and bodies through a partnership agreement.
